What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment at Madison Square Dental is designed to be thorough, low-pressure, and educational — not a sales pitch. Here’s exactly what happens.
Before Your Visit
- Submit your patient forms online ahead of time to skip paperwork at the office
- Have your insurance card ready — we’ll verify benefits before you arrive
- Bring a list of medications and any past dental records if you have them
- Arrive 10 minutes early for the first appointment
When You Arrive
Our front desk will greet you, confirm your insurance, and answer any administrative questions before you even sit in the chair.
Comprehensive Exam (45-60 minutes)
- Digital X-rays — low radiation, fast, and gives us a complete picture
- Periodontal evaluation — gum measurements to assess gum health
- Tooth-by-tooth exam — checking for decay, cracks, and worn restorations
- Oral cancer screening — quick visual + tactile exam of soft tissues
- Bite assessment — how your teeth come together
Cleaning
A professional cleaning removes plaque, tartar, and surface stains. If you have signs of active gum disease, we may recommend a deep cleaning instead at a follow-up visit.
Treatment Planning Conversation
After the exam, we sit down and walk through what we found, what (if anything) you need, what it would cost, and what your insurance would cover. No pressure, no surprise bills, no upselling.
