What is it?

The best of both worlds: implant stability with denture convenience.

Traditional dentures rest on your gums and rely on suction or adhesive to stay in place. Over time, they can slip, irritate tissue, and make eating certain foods difficult. Implant overdentures solve all of these problems by anchoring your denture to titanium implants surgically placed in your jawbone.

The denture snaps onto the implants with precision attachments, holding it firmly in place throughout the day. You can still remove it for cleaning at night. For the lower jaw, as few as two implants provide excellent retention. The upper jaw typically requires four implants for full stability, since the upper bone is less dense. Both options dramatically improve quality of life compared to traditional dentures.

Why choose us

Why patients choose Implant Overdenture.

No more slipping

Implant attachments hold your denture firmly in place. No adhesive pastes, no embarrassing shifts while eating or talking.

Eat what you want

Steak, apples, corn on the cob - foods that are off-limits with traditional dentures become possible again.

Preserves jawbone

Dental implants stimulate bone growth the way natural tooth roots do, preventing the bone loss that makes traditional dentures fit worse over time.

Frequently asked

Implant Overdenture questions, answered.

Tap a question to expand the answer.

How many implants do I need?

For the lower jaw, 2 implants provide excellent stability. The upper jaw typically requires 4 implants because the bone is less dense. Your dentist will evaluate your bone quality during the consultation and recommend the right number.

How long does the process take?

The implants are placed surgically and need 3-6 months to fuse with the bone (a process called osseointegration). During this healing period, you can wear a temporary denture. Once healed, your final overdenture is fabricated and snapped into place.

Is the surgery painful?

Implant placement is done under local anesthesia with optional sedation. Most patients report less discomfort than they expected - comparable to a tooth extraction. Post-surgery soreness is manageable with over-the-counter medication for a few days.

How long do implant overdentures last?

The titanium implants themselves can last a lifetime with proper care. The overdenture attachment components may need replacement every 5-7 years, and the denture itself may need a reline or remake every 10-15 years.

Can I sleep with my overdenture in?

We recommend removing it at night to let your gums rest and to clean the attachment components. This extends the life of both the implants and the denture.

What if I already have a denture?

In many cases, your existing denture can be retrofitted with implant attachments - saving you the cost of a completely new prosthesis. We will evaluate your current denture during the consultation.

Am I a candidate if I have bone loss?

Many patients with some bone loss are still candidates. Bone grafting can rebuild areas that have deteriorated. Dr. Mansour will evaluate your bone with a 3D CBCT scan and discuss all options.

Lower vs. upper - which is more common?

Lower overdentures are more common because lower dentures tend to have the most problems with stability. Upper dentures have natural suction from the palate, but many patients still prefer the security of implant retention for the upper jaw as well.
